Brendan Hanlon
Vice President for University Operations, Chief Financial Officer

Brendan Hanlon serves as Vice President for University Operations and Chief Financial Officer overseeing administrative departments including Facilities Management, Office of Budgets, Business and Financial Services which includes Procurement Services, and Safety and Risk Services with oversight of Environmental Health, Policy Office, Clery Compliance, Risk Management and Insurance, Parking and Transportation, Central Receiving/Mail Services, and the CSU Police Department.  Brendan also oversees many University initiatives and programs such as Commitment to Campus and Strategic Partnerships.  As CFO, his primary focus is to ensure the integrity of the financial processes and reporting of the University.

Hanlon most recently served as deputy mayor and chief financial officer for the City and County of Denver.  His leadership impacted more than a decade of city budgets, three General Obligation bond programs to fund hundreds of city projects from parks to museums to mobility improvements and supported the establishment and subsequent doubling of the city’s first affordable housing fund. Hanlon worked closely with the community and city council to close the city’s structural budget gap and led the Budget Office and the Department of Finance during the recovery from the Great Recession and the pandemic while maintaining the city’s AAA rating since 2010.  He was with the City and County of Denver since 2000.

Hanlon earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in political science and history, and a master’s of public affairs with a concentration in public budgeting, from the University of Connecticut.
